Couple of hours back Jimmy Wales unofficially announced the donation made by Google to the Wikimedia foundation.
The donation was announced in a true social media style; via twitter by Jimmy Wales the founder of Wikimedia and Mitch Kapor from its advisory board.
However, the official announcement by both Google and Wikimedia will be made tomorrow.
I believe this is a sign that Google is embracing Wikipedia as the web’s center for knowledge. (And they might abandon their project 'Wikipedia Killer' aka Knol.)
